Ep 294 – The Philosophy of Trump

What is Donald Trump’s philosophy when it comes to governing? Is he driven by the ideas of John Locke and Montesquieu? Are his economic ideas founded in the teachings of Adam Smith and David Ricardo? Not likely. A business man does not an economist make. A politician does not a philosopher make.

Trump is driven by populism and nationalism, neither of which are in the spirit of America’s founders. Protectionism is something that Adam Smith wrote an entire book, The Wealth of Nations, against. Military interventionism is something our founders warned against.
