Socialism is ugly. There should be no doubt about it. Not only is it wildly inefficient at allocating resources to those who make the best use of them, but it requires a complete surrender of individual liberty to the state.
Britain has recently ushered in the birth of a new member of the royal family, Prince Louis. At the same time, another life, that of Alfie Evans, was lost. His parents wanted the opportunity to take him to Italy to try to save his life, but the NHS system wouldn’t allow him. By signing up for “free” healthcare, these poor parents signed away their child’s right to fight for life.
Imagine if little Prince Louis was stricken with the same illness. Would he have been restricted to only British healthcare? Of course not! This is the secret of socialism that socialists like Bernie Sanders don’t want to tell you. Socialism is even more unequal than capitalism!
Speaking of Bernie, he’s putting forth the idea of a guaranteed jobs program. Of course, his plan lacks specifics of how it is actually paid for, but we can assume it means taking money out of the private sector and putting into the public sector. Has he learned nothing about the catastrophic failures of social security, medicare, and medicaid, let alone America’s socialized national security?
