President Trump officially scraped the Iran Deal. The move was relatively expected, but much of the rhetoric used in his announcement was not just flat out false, but utterly hypocritical. To those paying attention, America accusing Iran of meddling in other nation’s affairs and funding terrorism, is like the pot calling the kettle black.
America’s history with Iran goes back decades, at one time giving them nuclear technology as well as selling them anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles. The West’s history with the middle east goes back even further, with France and Britain betraying Arabs following WWII and dividing up their land in the Sykes-Picot agreement. Think this might lead to distrust of the West, and America in particular? Of course!
Also – Gina Haspel is up for her nomination to head the CIA, but her past in one not just of “enhanced interrogation” (aka torture), but also of destroying evidence of the interrogations before the public could see the truth. This isn’t just a problem with Haspel, but with the entire culture of the CIA and government overall. They believe they are above the law.
