The week of guests starts off strong with an appearance by Scott Horton. Scott is the Managing Director for the Libertarian Institute, an editor at AntiWar.com, and the author of Fool’s Errand: Time to End the War in Afghanistan.
Tim and Scott chat about the Afghan war, and how the military intervention began long before 9/11. In 1979, the U.S. began arming the mujahideen in an effort to provoke the Soviet Union and draw them into their own Vietnam. Mission accomplished – the USSR went bankrupt and fell apart. Now, bin Laden and his followers have drawn us into the same war, with the same goal in mind – bankrupting America.
Many people are afraid of Iran, but Horton debunks a lot of talking points that are thrown around. He also shows how Israel is far from a weak country surrounded by enemies. In fact, Israel is oftentimes the antagonist in the middle east.
