The new trend for the main stream media is calling AR-15s “weapons of war”, but this label is misleading. The truth is that American troops DO NOT use AR-15s in the theater of war. Soldiers use M-16s, not AR-15s. Yet, this is the conversation being had again despite the fact that the latest school shooter didn’t even use an AR-15. The question now is… what can government do to stop these mass shootings?
It is disappointing to those who bow at the alter of government to learn that there is no legal solution to this problem. The solution is parents, teachers, friends, and families having better relationships with young people. Today, young people are less likely to have someone to vent to. Good parents TALK to their children; bad parents IGNORE their children.
The problem is so much larger than politicians think it is. It isn’t about the gun show loophole or violent movies. It is about an entire society that, despite being more connected via social media, feels more isolated than ever. Our DNA tells us to make friends, anti-social media tells us to make enemies. A serious change needs to be made, but government can’t make it.
