California is facing a crisis with huge upticks in homelessness, and now even outbreaks in downtown Los Angeles of typhoid. Drug usage is on the rise, crime is on the rise, the state is deep in debt, and government programs are all around. What or who is to blame? One thing is for sure – Californians can’t blame the free market.
Rent control, land use laws, open space laws, minimum wage laws… Welfare, food stamps, government provided housing… All of this adds to the problem. Government both subsidizes homelessness and negative behavior, and forces up the price of housing and kills job opportunities. The REAL problem is that people are fleeing California and spreading around the country, bringing their big government ideas with them. If Austin is the San Fransisco of Texas, God help Texas!
ALSO: The richest and poorest states. Where do you live? Are you among the richest or the poorest? Of course, many more things than median income should be accounted for, but the state with the highest income is being subsidized by YOU!
