On Wednesday, FBI Director James Comey revealed to the Senate Judiciary Committee that Hillary Clinton’s top aide, Huma Abedin, regularly forwarded emails to her disgraced husband, Anthony Weiner. Some of those emails were classified.
Comey told the committee, “Somehow, her emails were being forwarded to Anthony Weiner, including classified information by her assistant, Huma Abedin.”
Comey also responded to questions as to why he decided to open an investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails a mere two weeks prior to the election. In an interview Clinton blamed her loss partly on Comey’s actions.
That investigation was opened due to an “unrelated” investigation into Anthony Weiner, who had had his computer seized as part of an investigation into his own misdeeds. Many will recall Weiner’s frequent use of Twitter to “sext” near nude pictures of himself to young women.
Although the investigation into Clinton’s emails was dropped before the election took place, Hillary still believes that this played a crucial role in helping Donald Trump defeat her.
Clinton gave an interview with CNN and said she was “on the way to winning until a combination of [James] Comey’s letter on October 28 and Russian WikiLeaks raised doubts in the minds of people who were inclined to vote for me and got scared off.”
